The Darts Women have had wins all round since the last update! Here’s what they’ve been getting up to…
On 22nd October the Development team played Hassocks away from home and secured all 3 points with a 2-1 win. Even when the game got close in the second half the Darts dug deep and hung onto a well deserved lead.
This week they played Eastbourne at home after the fixture was reversed due to the weather. The Darts took an early lead before Eastbourne equalised. But in the second half the Darts were able to secure the win with two goals from Chloe and Aimee Ascott. Additionally to securing the win – development player Hannah Cleary was called up to play for the first team squad and scored on her debut appearance!
This puts the Development squad into 3rd place moving into the cup game this coming Sunday against Crawley at home.
For the 1st team they were in FA Cup action again. The vibe is always good on FA cup day, we love having the chance to play infront of our fans in the stadium. We didn’t know much about Wycombe, but believed if we focused on our game and worked hard we would get the result.
Vaughndog put us 1-0 up within the first 10 minutes. We had a lot of chances in the first half, hitting the bar and a few other shots just wide but it was 1-0 at half time. We knew we had to be more clinical and take our chances in the second half, a good team talk at half time and we came out ready for war. Shauni set us off with a 2-0 lead, and went on to get herself a hatty and the match ball. Paris scored a screamer, and Gabby got her first goal. I (Charlie Tory) managed to get 2 myself, it was a great second half and the game finished 8-1. We’re absolutely buzzing to be moving into the first round proper of the FA Cup and we’ve drawn Abingdon at home on the 12th November and would love your support!
Up the Darts!
