After being really unlucky to walk away without a point last week after a solid performance, we knew this week was a great chance to bounce back against a Dulwich side who were also strong league contenders. We made sure to come out of the gates strong.
The two Emily’s combined for the first goal of the afternoon when Reado put a great ball into the box, the goalkeeper came to meet it and dropped it right at Emily Vaughan’s feet who finished to give us the lead we’d been pushing for!
We then didn’t have to wait long to double our lead, but this time provider turned goalscorer with Reado scoring once again from a cross. No one more shocked than herself who didn’t even realise she’d scored! Dartford finished off the half strong and went into halftime with their 2-0 crucial lead and great half of football.
Knowing the next goal was crucial with the 2 goal lead, we knew we had to come out of the blocks again quick. We never seemed like letting our foot off the gas all afternoon and it was this pressure that finally gave us the third goal. With Nicha running them down, there was a miscommunication in the Dulwich defence which saw the backpass end up in the net. Nicha will claim she got a toenail on it, have to see the replay on that one to see if it puts her one goal closer to those new boots! Then with 20 minutes to go, we made it 4-0. Reado with another unbelievable ball into the box found Shauni at the back post whose header found the net off a deflection off a defender. Maybe a replay needed on that one too! Dulwich got themselves on the scoreboard with a long range free kick and a goal in the last few minutes.. but the damage was done and the game ended with us seeing it out to secure the well deserved 4-2 win.
Whole team were absolutely solid today from the starters to the subs that came on, what a performance. Defence put in some vital blocks, Jade was bossing her box, the middle three just never stopped running and working their socks off. we were unlucky to not score more on the day with us hitting the woodwork once again. Very happy to take a great 3 points back to Princes Park. Super proud of the team. Thank you to all the Dartford fans who came to watch us as well!
