Leigh Anderson is into his second season as a sponsor at Dartford FC, however his love for the club has really taken root this season. Here we talk to him about how this relationship has grown into a real family affair.
After laying the foundation for a successful scaffolding business, Leigh Anderson was only too happy to support DFC Women’s team in their quest to reach new heights.
The BVL Scaffolding director became a club sponsor last year, scaling up his support for the 2024/25 season.
Leigh has worked in the scaffolding industry all his life, taking control of BVL five years ago and expanding the business significantly. The firm provides access requirements across three divisions: commercial, residential and rail, throughout London and the Home Counties.
With the firm based in Dartford and after becoming disenchanted with top-tier football, he jumped at the chance to see how else he could help the local team and community when the opportunity arose.
In fact, Sundays have now become a family affair, with his son and partner also heavily involved in the development of the Women’s team.
He said: “It’s become what we do as a family on a Sunday. My eldest son Connor is currently overseeing the team’s analytics and my partner Ria is their strength and conditioning coach.
“With my company sponsoring the team and club, and my youngest son Alfie by my side in the stands each game, we are all in and we love it!”
Having only missed one match so far this season due to a holiday, Leigh and his sidekick spectator son are impressed by the team’s progression. Not only has his enjoyment for football returned, the women’s game in particular has become a real passion.
He continued: “There’s a big push with women’s football at the moment and I’m fully behind it. Sure, it’s great to see the company logo on the training kit and around the ground, but it has become way more than just getting exposure, it’s also about family.”
Talking about the team, Leigh continued: “The cohesion and the way the girls are coming together, has been magnificent to witness. Their style and quality of play – they’ve got it on point at the moment.
“It’s clear the communication and commitment from players, management and staff is positively impacting their overall standard, and it’s a pleasure to be part of it!”
On individual player performances, Leigh would not be swayed to comment, with the team ethos and direction something he preferred to highlight.
He added: “I won’t single anyone out at the moment. I can’t, they’re all playing fantastic football. The team is full of star players, so I personally wouldn’t want to name individuals.
“But I will say I think they’ve got a very good chance of promotion this year. They’ve got big games coming up, but I think if they continue to play the level of football they are currently, they’re set to win the league.”
