Dartford Whites vs Stratford Town – Match Report

Dartford Whites won comfortably 5-0 against Stratford Town on Wednesday Afternoon in their National League Alliance U19 League Cup Match, progressing into the next round.

The 1st Half started great for Dartford as after 8 minutes, Levi Gold was able to steal possession inside the Stratford half, however as he was through one-on-one with the Goalkeeper, he opted to chip, but the Keeper was able to catch comfortably.

Dartford continue to press forward and create a number of opportunities, Gold see’s his header go over after an inviting cross from Henri Fulton. Then Taylor Fisher drives his way into the penalty area, only for his effort to go straight at the Stratford Goalkeeper, Ben Ream. Ream then produces a save from a corner to deny Ryan Saad.

However on the break, it’s Stratford who create the closest chance so far as George Dawson is through on goal, his effort beats the Goalkeeper, Sam Murray, but fortunately for the Whites, it ricochets off the post.

Dartford could’ve found the breakthrough, however even though Saad scores, his effort is disallowed after a foul on the Goalkeeper in the build-up. Then moments later, it looks like Dartford have scored again, however this is disallowed as well after the referee says that the Keeper had been fouled yet again.

Finally, Dartford break the deadlock after 31 minutes as a free-kick comes into the box from the right, after it bounces around, Gold is there to finish it off, putting the Whites 1-0 up.

Before Half-Time, Dartford look for their second of the game. Liam Gillies has a great effort from distance whistle past the post. Then a few minutes later, Fisher has an effort which the Goalkeeper spills, it then hits the post before eventually it’s scrambled away to safety. Then finally just before the Half-Time whistle, Fisher drives into the box and unleashes a shot but it only hits the side netting. Regardless, Dartford are still in control and lead 1-0 at Half-Time.

Minutes into the 2nd Half and Stratford could very well have equalised as there is a scramble inside the Dartford Penalty Area, Murray makes an initial save before eventually Jarrod Clamp’s effort is blocked and bounces away to safety.

Dartford then double their advantage as Gillies connects with a great effort, however it’s saved by Ream, Saad though is there to follow-up and scores to make it 2-0.

Dartford continue to dominate the game and start to play some great football, highlighted by some wonderful play from Gillies and Fisher. Fisher drives forward and lays it off to Gillies, Gillies fakes to shot and plays it back to Fisher who’s shot sails over the bar.

The Dartford pressure then pays off as from a corner the ball falls kindly to Saad who makes no mistake with his shot, firing it high and into the roof of the net to score his second of the game and Dartford’s third.

Saad almost completes his hat-trick after some great play from Gillies, who is running the midfield, he plays Saad in behind the Stratford defence, however the shot skims the outside of the post and goes out for a goal kick.

Dartford then are then able to make it 4-0 as substitute, Gabriel Alonge breaks in behind the Stratford defence and is one-on-one with the Keeper, he fires it low and down past him into the bottom corner. Alonge soon grabs his second and Dartford’s 5th as he uses his strength to get past the last defender and again slots the ball past the Keeper.

The final whistle blows and Dartford Whites advance to the next round with a 5-0 win against Stratford. Overall it was a comfortable performance from the players, with stand out performances in particular from Ryan Saad and Liam Gillies.
