I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you all myself (before the rumour mill starts!) that I have handed my notice in with Dartford Football Club.
I will be leaving my role as Commercial Manager in the middle of March, and it was a decision that I have not taken lightly.
I was approached back in January regarding a position at a higher league club, and I didn’t start this year looking for new employment. I attended an interview at this football club where I spent three hours with their Managing Director and got a good insight into what my potential new role would involve. A week later and much to my surprise I was offered the position.
I spoke to Tony Burman, Steve Irving, my parents and a couple of friends to ask their thoughts and decided that the step forward for me would be to accept. I can promise you all, it was not a yes straight away.
Dartford Football Club has provided me with a great insight into non-league football and working for a club where no two days are ever the same. I’ve worked hard to develop the commercial department and also bring our social media up to date and I think I have done that.
I love this club. There have been many highs and a few lows along the way; I will be leaving with some great memories and new friends. The people I’ve worked with, staff and players alike have restored my faith in working within the football industry.
I’ll still be at the matches when I can as a volunteer and I have offered to help get the club to the end of the season also; I wouldn’t walk away from this place without ‘finishing what I started’. Jack has already recruited my services for the volunteer’s day in the close season – evidently he’s finally realised what a fantastic painter and decorator I am at heart. And yes I’ll keep my Warbler membership!
I wish you all the best for the rest of this season and of course the promotion push.
Up the Darts, but also Up the Daggers…..
Lauren
