Dartford completed their pre-season campaign with a 5-0 victory over Essex side Bowers and Pitsea.
The Darts started brightly and on 6 minutes, Nisha Dyett’s cross found Caitlin Hirst who made no mistake from six yards out to give the home side the lead. It could have been two nil on 24 minutes when Rachel Stevens’ cross from the left again found Hirst, but her shot was charged down by the Bowers and Pitsea goalkeeper. Despite plenty of pressure, Dartford didn’t increase their lead until the stroke of half-time when Shauni Griffiths’ volley from the edge of the penalty area arrowed into the far corner of the net.
The second half saw Darts make it 3-0 when Lizzie Adams finished with composure inside the penalty area on 50 minutes. Ten minutes later, Griffiths’ ball through found Dyett. The resulting shot was charged down and Katie Butts finished the move with a shot across the goal into the far corner to make it 4-0.
To cap off a good performance, Hirst scored her second of the afternoon in the 82nd minute with a brilliant solo effort starting in her own half, culminating in a lovely curled shot into the top right hand corner from 20 yards out.
Darts will begin their league campaign on the 13th September with a home match against Ashford Town (Middlesex).
