Part of the stigma that still exists about mental health for men is that men have greater difficulty talking about their own struggles.
The stereotypes of being a man are they should be a source of strength, show no weakness the hunter-gatherer type. In many of these outdated stereotypes there is little room for showing poor mental health.
Plus let’s face it the words ‘mental health’ can bring up negative and wrong ideas of what mental health really means.
This is the time to seek and be accepted for help with your mental well-being within a group but the first step has to be yours.
It’s important for everyone to feel they’re able to talk about how they feel without fear of judgement or discrimination within a confidential environment.
Dartford FC have been a great supporter of North Kent Mind and all the services we provide.
We are especially excited to continue this partnership to bring the Men’s group to Princes Park.
Tony Burman commented: “The club is committed to supporting the community and the work of North Kent Mind.”
He added: “We are happy to host this group as men’s mental health is such a important issue, and more men need to talk about it.”
We aim to reach out to the supporters of this great club to talk about their mental health and to be open about it and to join our group.
It is run as a peer support group so it allows people to meet and talk about any issues they have, with people who have experienced similar things to themselves and to offer advice to each other too. With sharing laughs together along the way.
The group starts on Thursday 30th January from 5.30pm til 7.30pm.
Anyone interested in joining or have any questions please contact the group’s facilitator..
