Following on from last week’s FA Cup triumph, Darts were back in league action as we welcomed Ashford United to Princes Park. Darts headed into this one on a four game win streak and we wanted to extend that run further with victory here.

Darts started this game very brightly and created a couple of half chances within the first ten minutes. The best of these chances came in the 9th minute, a shot from Amy Russ forced a good save from the Ashford keeper.

As the half progressed, Darts continued to create chances and took the lead in the 22nd minute. An effort from the edge of the box from Amy Russ flew past the Ashford keeper and we were one goal to the good.

Darts continued to dominate this contest and it wasn’t long before Darts doubled their lead. In the 28th minute, a great through ball from Amy Russ put Teni Charles through on goal, who poked the ball beyond the keeper and Darts were 2-0 ahead at half time.

As the second half began, Darts continued to dominate and it wasn’t long before we scored our third goal. In the 51st minute, a cross found Emily Vaughan in the box, her effort on goal came back off the post, but Amy Russ was there to fire home the rebound to make it 3.

Darts searched for goal number four and came close to getting it midway through the half. In the 67th minute, a great cross from Beth Powell found Emily Vaughan in the box, but the effort on goal went just over the bar.

Darts continued to create chances and their efforts were rewarded late on. In the 89th minute, debutant Sarah Hill turned smartly on the edge of the box and volleyed home to score her first goal for the Darts and the fourth goal of the afternoon.
