MATCH REPORT – Denham 1 -4 Dartford Women

What a day!

This season isnt getting any easier and that was shown on Sunday against Denham. Yes we came away with 4 goals and 3 points but I feel the score one flattered us a bit!

It was important going into this weekend to focus on coming away with 3 points nothing less especially after last weekends performance.

Denham similar to Saltdean is a tough place to get down to 1 factor the pitch. It’s a very different surface compared to the carpet we get at Princes Park but the girls I think delt with it well.

It was dissapointing to concede how we did a corner that wasn’t a corner due to a foul on Jade fair play to the referee who did hold his hands up to that mistake after the game. However I’m dissapointed in how we conceded from the corner but that’s something we can work on!

After that it seemed to give us a bit of a kick as we searched for that equaliser and thankfully it came from our own corner thanks to a superb header from Emily Vaughan.

The 2nd half I felt we started a lot better. We understood how we were going to beat them and executed that plan incredibly well. A freekick from Amy which took a deflection and fell kindly for Alicia for her to slot home gave us the lead. Terry had said on the sidelines that once we got the 2nd they’d fall apart. Kim has then scored an absolute wonder strike from 30/35 yards out into the top corner to give us a 3-1 lead. Finally a superb goal from Nicha as she took it round the keeper and slotted it home with her left foot. She alongside Paris was superb when they came off the bench wnd really caused issues for the Denham defence.

So another 3 points and a real reaction from the girls after last Sundays showing.

Now we look ahead to arguably our toughest 2 games of the season. Firstly Ashford at home, they’ve started well and I believe sit top and have dominated every game they’ve played. Hopefully we will get a large amount of supporters at this one to push the girls on.
Then it’s off to Champion Hill to take on our friends at Dulwich Hamlet who again have started well.

As always thanks for your support especially those who travelled on Sunday we know traffic was the kindest!

Onwards and upwards!
