The game started well with some good movement from the boys, and Dajon Golding with a well worked goal. The game became a bit sloppy however we kept pressing, and our second goal came from a penalty well taken by Ben Francis after he was taken down in the box.
We finished the first half with Dajon scoring again with a fantastic solo goal to put Dartford ahead 3-0 before half time.
HALF TIME: Dartford FC U18’s 3 – Chipstead FC U18’s 0
The management team spoke to the team at half time about how the players could improve and work as a collective unit by moving the ball quickly and playing with more penetration.
However, the second half started and didn’t go as planned. Chipstead upped their game and we didn’t quite hit the heights as we did in the first half. We showed a different side to our game by digging in and winning our fair share of tackles and being a solid team.
Chipstead deserved their goal, and on the counter attack Bradwin Kobi scored a goal which was well taken after a great run.
Overall the result was very pleasing, and we progressed to the next round, however the standard is now set and we know we can improve.
FULL TIME: Dartford FC U18’s 4 – Chipstead FC U18’s 1
Academy Manager Deren Ibrahim said ‘We could have had a few more goals if we were a bit more clinical; however I was pleased with the defensive side shown in the game. We proved in the first round our attacking play was very good, and if we can combine the attacking and goal scoring from both matches together I believe in the next round we will be a very hard team to beat.’
