Today we can confirm that later this week, Lee Burns will be cutting his season with us short as he has work commitments which mean he must work abroad for the next few months.
Tony Burman told the Kent Messenger “It’s a work commitment he could not turn down. Unfortunately he leaves us now and I wish him all the best. He’s been absolutely brilliant for this club. ”
He continued “I don’t know if he’s played his last game for the club but I can’t stand in the way of players who have got work commitments – any of them. If they’ve got a contract out of the country, whether it’s a day, two days, three days, they have to do that.
“Lots of people have done well at this club – volunteers, supporters, players, everybody – they’ve all tried their best and Burnsie’s one of those people. He’s one of the originals, if you like. He’s been brilliant for us and his attitude is fantastic”
We wish Lee all the best of luck for the future and we hope that this isn’t the last that we see of Burnsy!
